As a hormonal teenager growing up in Greater Manchester, I spent much of my time learning the words to the first two oasis albums. I was quite obsessive, at one point even trying to grow my hair like my hero Liam Gallagher. Sadly, at my school if you didn't have a sheep dog or short back and sides you were an instant target for abuse, so I took the less dangerous option of wearing a sky blue Adidas tracksuit top and practising to walk like liam did.
I remember spending a lot of time looking at the front cover of Definitely Maybe, romanticizing about being older, drinking wine, being independant and owning a living room like the one in the photograph. Similarly to the brash rock n roll, the interior was very british and very 90's. Listening to that album, and gazing into the living room allowed me to forget how shit it was to be a teenager and momentarily provided me with a sense of faith that things might turn out ok.
After the disappointing third album my admiration for the band evaporated and I lost interest in them to the point that I removed all the posters that had adorned my walls and replaced them with 'take me to your dealer' pictures and hallucinogenic images of aliens. I think I probably started listening to rap music too. I don't actually think I even own any of their albums anymore, but seeing this image of Paul 'bonehead' Arthurs in that living room brought all those memories back.
